Dongju Telephone

Exhibited at Nation Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts

This artwork is based on my life experience in a small island - Dongju island, the communication in the island in early time is very poor, and the telephone number in the island is usually similar and unique to other areas of Taiwan. The listening experience while making a call has also become a specific password. I intercepted the sound issued by digital buttons and the spectrum of the sound frequency to produce the image, and array it with the pictures that I took from deserted building around the island. There are many buildings of this type on the island, which were used for military purposes in the early days and gradually became abandoned as the times changed. The views of these landscapes trace some early life experiences and memories.
